Our Key Insights from the Australian Securitisation Forum

In November, the Loanworks funding team joined 1,600 participants at the Australian Securitisation Forum—a record turnout that reflected the market’s exceptional momentum.

Market Strength Continues

The Australian securitisation industry maintained its 2024 trajectory, raising approximately $80 billion through term securitisation markets in 2025. Strong offshore investor attendance signalled growing international confidence in Australian assets, while emerging sectors like reverse mortgages and data centres highlighted the market’s evolution.

Offshore Investor Confidence Surges

A standout theme was the marked increase in offshore investor appetite for Australian securitisation. The market demonstrated resilience during periods of dislocation—including post-Liberation Day volatility—with liquidity remaining robust. This stability attracted multiple new international investors to the market in 2025.

Alternative Funding Avenues Emerge

Significant discussion centred on whole loan sales to private credit entities as a complementary funding channel. As this segment matures, it presents Loanworks with opportunities to diversify funding sources beyond traditional securitisation.

Industry Standardisation on the Agenda

A particularly engaging panel explored standardised definitions for ‘prime’ and ‘non-conforming’ mortgages in RMBS transactions. While industry consensus would require substantial work, the initiative could materially improve offshore investor understanding of Australian deals. As Blackwattle transactions comprise exclusively prime mortgages, clearer market definitions would benefit our program directly.

Strategic Relationships Strengthened

The conference provided invaluable face time with existing and potential Blackwattle investors, promising new relationships that will support our growth trajectory.

Looking Ahead

Following our successful $750 million Blackwattle transaction in September 2025, insights gained from the ASF conference position support Loanworks funding expectations and targets which are critical to expanding our capacity to serve Australian mortgage customers.
